Month of January

Aries

While the big changes that will see 2025 live up to its reputation for being a year of change are still several months away, there is still a significant amount of change taking place this month. The Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars are all on the move and while that is not unusual, apart from the Sun they are all being impacted by retrograde phases in the past, that are still going on or are yet to happen. Also, after 18 months the lunar nodes are shifting and while their focus will always be on a need for balance, this will be shifting to a new agenda.

The first shift of the month happens on 3rd January, as Venus leaves a social and serendipitous part of your chart and returns to a nostalgic and reflective part. This will see Venus return to take your heart on a nostalgic trip down memory lane that will end with her return to Aries early next month. With Saturn and Neptune doing the same in just a few months, this is a chance to start preparing for big changes ahead.

It is three days later that Mars will retrograde back out of a playful and creative part of your chart on 6th January just as Mercury, held back by a retrograde turn last month is getting ready to leave an adventurous part on 8th January. This will see the year begin with a lot of focus on the playful, creative and adventurous side of life's fence, only to come to a fairly abrupt end. This will see Mars retrograde back into your home and family sector for a do over while Mercury will join the Sun in your career sector.

Meanwhile, it is on 12th January that for the first time in 18 months the lunar nodes will shift their focus from policing a balance between your own and your relationship needs to policing how well you know when to keep your work hat on and when to take it off. Where for the last 18 months the eclipses have fallen in Aries and your relationship sector, they will now fall in your work sector and in a nostalgic and reflective but also intuitive and imaginative part of your chart.

Taurus

While the Sun will always spend the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year in your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery, something has changed and this is no longer as permanent as it once was. For the first time since 2007, when the Sun returned just before Christmas it was to find Pluto, the planet of change and transformation gone and while he has dipped in and out over the last two years, this time he is not only gone for good but is in the early months of a 20 year visit to your career sector. By the time the Sun returned Venus and the dwarf planet Ceres had also left, but not before helping you work on your bucket list.

While Mercury will move through from 8th January to 28th January and that will help you turn that bucket list into a game plan and resolutions, with the Sun leaving on 20th January and no more planets returning until later in the year, this will leave this adventurous part of your chart empty. This will be a whole new experience and especially as this coincides with the rise of the professional side of life's fence. While Venus will leave your career sector on 3rd January, the dwarf planet Ceres is here until later next month, the Sun will return on 20th January, Mercury on 28th January and the Moon on 29th January to begin the lead up to the first New Moon of 2025 a day later.

By that point your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery will be empty, a brand new experience, but helping to maintain a balance between work and play will be the South Node's return to a playful and creative part of your chart on 12th January. Meanwhile, Venus is moving on to spend the rest of the month in your friendship sector, where she will benefit from the support of the asteroid Juno in your relationship sector from the start and from Mars' return to your communication sector on 6th January. It is there that a Full Moon on 14th January will see the Moon and Mars join forces to push for a communication breakthrough.

Gemini

As you move into the New Year there is a mix of the familiar, the unexpected but also some fairly significant change. The familiar is that with the Sun always spending the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year in your financial sector, the solar spotlight is always on your financial situation and money matters at this time of year. What is unexpected is that with Pluto gone, this is no longer part of an ongoing journey and more a short, sharp chance to get this financial year off on the right foot in order to set and forget.

For the first time in 16 years, with the Sun leaving on 20th January once Mercury, who will return on 8th January with the smart head for money needed to get your head in the game and to think on your feet leaves on 28th January, this will leave this side of the financial fence empty until later in the year. Instead, in a twist of fate the focus will instead shift to the other side of the financial fence, with Mars retrograding back into your income sector on 6th January for a rare do over. Mars had already spent two months here before leaving in November but is back for another three and a half months.

Mars won't leave until April, during which time Venus, the planet of money is set to spend a lot of time in your career sector. Venus will return for what is normally a 24 day mission to fuel your professional confidence, attract opportunities and steer things in a lucrative direction on 3rd January. Venus will eventually leave next month, but like Mars, a retrograde phase will see her return for a do over in March.

This is going to get 2025 off to an empowered start across the income, work and career fronts in a way that is totally unexpected. Meanwhile, while this will see Venus leave your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery, she will leave behind Pluto, who is here now for the next 20 years.

Cancer

This is one year when first impressions are not so much wrong, for they will be accurate at the time, but they could soon change thanks to some significant shifts in the first 12 days of the month. First impressions suggest that this will be a big and busy year across the income, work and career fronts and things are definitely getting off to an empowered start. However, as if marshalling their resources to gain as much initial traction as possible, there will soon be a shift that will allow things to level off.

The first shift happens on 6th January, when two months after returning for what should have been a six week visit to your income sector Mars will retrograde back out. Once back in direct motion, Mars will return again but not until April, by which point there will be some massive and major developments taking place on the career front. It is two days later that over two months after returning for what is normally a 14 to 15 day visit to your work sector, on 8th January Mercury will not only leave your work sector but leave it empty until later in the year.

Four days later, after 18 months of guiding things forward and providing a sense of professional direction, the North Node will leave your career sector on 12th January. Within 12 days the forces that are getting the year off to such an empowered start across the income, work and career fronts, will have disbanded, giving you a chance to pull back but also for things to play out. This is also a chance to rest, with things firing up again when Neptune returns to your career sector in March.

Meanwhile, Mars' return to Cancer will see him form new alliances, namely with the asteroid Juno in a playful and creative part of your chart and Venus, who will return to your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery on 3rd January. As always, the Sun will spend the first three weeks of January in your relationship sector, before shifting the spotlight on your financial situation, money matters and the considerable support building there on 20th January.

Leo

Some shifts in the early part of the month are going to create some change, but nothing like the major changes in a few months. This month we have the kind of changes that are going to create enough distance from recent months to make it clear that we are no longer in 2024, but without disrupting the continuity. That will be the case when Venus leaves your relationship sector and returns to your financial sector on 3rd January.

Apart from swapping out her planet of love for her planet of money hat, Venus will leave behind planets that will keep the focus on your relationships while joining planets that already have the focus on money matters. There will be continuity on the relationship and relationship fronts, but where your heart is focused and the laws of attraction are in effect will shift. It will be a different story when Mars retrogrades back out of Leo on 6th January.

However, while this will leave you with no more planetary activity in your sign and this will see Mars retrograde back into a nostalgic and reflective part of your chart, he will return in April to begin your new two year Mars cycle over again from scratch. It is two days later that Mercury will finally leave a playful and creative part of your chart. Having returned in early November for what is normally a 14 to 15 day visit, by the time Mercury leaves and joins the Sun in your busy work sector on 8th January, you should know enough to maintain the right balance between work and play.

Balance will also become important when the lunar nodes return to your two money houses on 12th January. For the next 18 months, the lunar nodes will police a balance between money coming in and money going out and the eclipses will now fall in your income and financial sectors. As there is a lot of support on both sides of the financial fence, this could also lead to some significant breakthroughs.

Virgo

As you move into 2025, there will be a mix of the expected and the unexpected while at the same time, there are several reasons why a balance between work and play needs to be a priority from the start. Because the Sun will always spend the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year in a fun, playful, romantic and creatively charged part of your chart that shouldn't be a problem. Especially as even though the Sun will leave on 20th January, for the last 16 years Pluto has been here.

Even when the Sun leaves and returns to your busy work sector, this therefore shouldn't be a problem, right? Wrong, for having left in November Pluto is no longer there and he won't be coming back. While Mercury will move through from 8th January to 28th January, when he leaves this playful and creative part of your chart will then remain empty until later in the year. This year there is no backup and not only that, Pluto is now in your work sector and will be until 2044 and for the first time in 12 years, you have moved into the New Year with Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion in your career sector.

With Jupiter not leaving until May, 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal but also busy professional year. January is definitely set to become progressively busier, for while Venus will leave your work sector on 3rd January and shift her attention onto your relationships, the Sun will return on 20th January, Mercury on 28th January and the Moon on 29th January to begin the lead up to the first New Moon of 2025 a day later. Fortunately, helping to keep things balanced will be Mars' return to your friendship sector on 6th January, something that will kick off a powerful few months for friendship and relationship building.

Meanwhile, on 12th January a shift in the lunar nodes will see their ongoing quest for balance shift. For the last 18 months the lunar nodes have been policing a balance between money coming in and money going out but they will shift to policing a balance between your own and your relationship needs.

Libra

While there is a lot of change this month, this is just a small taste of the major changes that 2025 already has a reputation for. For now, the majority of the change this month will impact the dynamics of the early months of 2025, as opposed to the changes ahead that will impact the coming years. This is a chance to ease into this extraordinary year.

For the first 72 hours, it will be business as usual, with the landscape the same as it was last month. Even the last New Moon of 2024, which fell in your home and family sector on New Year's Eve is still running its course on New Year's Day. Because the Sun will always spend the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year here, the solar spotlight will remain on things close to home until he leaves on 20th January, with Mercury here from 8th January to 28th January.

It is after this that you will notice the change, for with Pluto having ended his 16 year visit in November, this will leave your home and family sector empty until later in the year. Instead, Pluto is settling into his early months in a playful and creative part of your chart, where he will stay until 2044 and where there will be growing support throughout the month. Apart from that, two of the more significant shifts involve Venus, Mars and Mercury in the early part of the month.

Mercury and Mars are part of a partnership that is going to get the month off to a powerful start on the communication, social and relationship fronts. This will start to disband when Mars leaves your friendship sector on 6th January, Mercury your communication sector on 8th January and the North Node your relationship sector on 12th January. At the same time, a new partnership will form across the income, work and career fronts, spearheaded by Venus' return to your work sector on 3rd January and Mars' to your career sector on 6th January.

Meanwhile, it is on 12th January that the lunar nodes will stop policing a balance between your own and your relationship needs and start policing how well you know when to keep your work hat on and when to take it off.

Scorpio

A few shifts in the first 12 days of the month are going to change the dynamics of the early part of the year and especially from how the year begins. Helping to get the year off to such an empowered across the income, work and career fronts is both the close partnership between forces on all three fronts and the fact that they are about to disband. It will begin with Mars' departure from your career sector on 6th January, followed two days later by Mercury's departure from your income sector on 8th January and after 18 months, the North Node's departure from your work sector on 12th January.

With both planets in your work sector staying on and Mars returning in April, they will be working together to get this new professional year off to an empowered start and to set things in motion for after they leave. Yet as one partnership ends, two more important partnerships will form. Where this will see Mars retrograde back into your sector of adventure, travel, learning and discovery, it will also see the North Node move into a playful and creative part of your chart.

This will put them back in harmony again but this time, instead of working together to get this new professional year off to an empowered start, they will be focused on the playful, creative and adventurous side of life's fence. With Venus returning to a playful and creative part of your chart on 3rd January, she will become part of that partnership. Meanwhile, as Mercury moves forward to join the Sun in your communication sector, he will become part of a partnership that includes Uranus in your relationship sector and the asteroid Juno, the queen of commitment in your communication sector.

There is change in the air this month, but it is the kind that will allow life itself to become more balanced.

Sagittarius

Because the Sun will always spend the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year in your income sector, the solar spotlight is always on the income side of the financial fence at this time of year. However, the other side of the financial fence is set to become just as empowered while also creating some competition, though not until later in the month. This is not a time of year when you would normally see planetary activity in your financial sector, the side of the financial fence where it is more about what you do with and how you manage the money you have.

So much so that the Full Moon here on 14th January is the Full Moon that halfway between the Sun's last visit and the next and at the least active point in any year for money matters, can give things a much needed boost. The game changer is Mars' return on 6th January, two months after leaving. Because Mars will return by retrograding back in, he will start at the very end of your financial sector and work his way back while the Sun and Mercury, who will return to your income sector from 8th January to 28th January are working their way forward and won't clash until just before they leave.

This might create some financial tension, but Mars will not only have the support of planets like Venus, the planet of money by then but the Sun will have the support of Uranus in your work sector and the South Node, which will return to your work sector on 12th January. It won't take much to turn any financial tension this might create into motivation on both sides of the financial fence. Meanwhile, while Venus will leave your communication sector on 3rd January, she will leave behind planets that can not only keep the communication lines open but with more on the way.

Capricorn

Because the Sun will always spend the last 10 days and the first three weeks of each year in Capricorn, you will always be simultaneously moving into both a new solar and a new calendar year. While all years are different, with different planets in different configurations, the biggest difference this year is that Pluto isn't here. Since his return in 2008, the planet of change and transformation has been here year after year, with his long term focus on change always happening alongside your birthday month.

Pluto left in November and he won't be back, making this a standalone chance to just focus on getting this new solar year off to an authentic start. With Mercury, who will join the Sun on 8th January leaving on 28th January, you will end the month with no more planetary activity in Capricorn and it will stay that way until later in the year, something that will be a whole new experience. Meanwhile, as Pluto settles into his early months in your income sector and into what will be his home until 2044, there is plenty of support both here and across the income, work and career fronts.

For the first time in 12 years, you have moved into the New Year with Jupiter in your work sector and while he is halfway through his 13 month visit, he and Pluto have already formed a formidable partnership. Meanwhile, forming a new partnership will be Venus and Mars, who turn their focus away from the two sides of the financial fence to focus on something completely different. It begins on 3rd January when Venus leaves your income sector and returns to your communication sector, where she will spend much of the first four months of 2025.

It is three days later that Mars will leave your financial sector and return to your relationship sector, where he will remain until April.

Aquarius

Until he retrogrades back out of your relationship sector on 6th January Mars, the planet of passion and the warrior planet of the cosmos is likely to push some buttons and shake things up, but he won't be doing this on his own. Instead, this will be thanks to spending his final days clashed with Pluto, the planet of change, transformation and rebellion in Aquarius that will peak on 3rd January but will be building and then waning a few days on either side. With Venus, the planet of love leaving Aquarius on 3rd January, she will be there to use this to better understand what you want from your relationships and what they need from you.

When Mars leaves on 6th January this will end any personal and/or relationship tension, while retrograding back into your work sector two months after leaving will have major implications across the income, work and career fronts. When Venus leaves Aquarius on 3rd January it is to join Saturn and Neptune in your income sector and both she and Mars will have the support of the asteroid Juno, the queen of commitment in your career sector from the start. From starting the year on opposite sides, this will put Venus and Mars on the same page.

By the time the Moon returns to your work sector on 12th January to begin the lead up to the first Full Moon of 2025 here on 14th January, things will be primed and ready for the trigger this can be across the income, work and career fronts. By the time the Sun returns to Aquarius on 20th January to begin your birthday month and new solar year, 2025 will be starting to look very different from 2024. Even the lunar nodes will have shifted by then, returning to your two money houses on 12th January, where for the next 18 months they will monitor a balance between money coming in and money going out.

Pisces

While January is going to witness a significant amount of change, what is even more significant is the shift in focus that within the first two weeks of the year is going to see 2025 look very different to 2024, even if for now the overriding influences will stay the same. It is still a few months before the major changes that 2025 already has a reputation for will begin. For now, the changes this month are more a chance to create some separation from last year, but not before exploiting all the advantages.

The latter is definitely the case when it comes to the empowered start that the year is going to get off to on the income, work and career fronts before the forces there disband. This will hold strong for six days, giving you enough time to ensure the momentum from last year continues and this new professional year gains a foothold. However, things will start to disband when Mars leaves your work sector on 6th January, followed by Mercury's departure from your career sector on 8th January and then four days later when after 18 months, the North Node will leave your income sector.

While there are planets staying on in your income sector, until Mars returns to your work sector in April for a do over, this will leave your two professional houses empty. However, as one partnership ends, two more will begin. Three days before Mars retrogrades back into a playful and creative part of your chart, Venus will return to Pisces on 3rd January and they will both have the support of the asteroid Juno, the queen of commitment in an adventurous part of your chart.

This is going to fire up the playful, creative and adventurous side of life's fence. At the same time, when Mercury joins the Sun in your friendship sector on 8th January and the South Node returns to your relationship sector on 12th January, they will have the support of Uranus in your communication sector from the start.
